Machete “surpassed the trailer”

In conversation with Brit film mag Empire Robert revealed more information about the both Predators and Machete. Plot wise, the film is said to exist outside the word of the previous AVP films, as Rodriguez says he “wrote the original script in ’94 before those movies existed.” In addition to shooting on location in Hawaii he also commented on the level of freedom Fox have given him, with the rest of the film being shot at Troublemaker Studios in Austin. “We don’t want to turn it into a studio movie. They want me to make it my way.”

Robert also commented on Machete, stating “It’s the shortest film schedule since Mariachi, which was a 14-day shoot. You have to just make quick decisions, and it comes out better. The energy is much better.”

“There’s so much crazy stuff now. I just want to live up to the trailer and it’s far surpassed the trailer. So if you like that, you’re going to love the movie.” I’m sure we will!
